In our daily kitchen life, plastic wrap is everywhere. Their versatility allows us to use them to preserve everything from fresh bread to various meat products. But have you ever stopped to think about what plastic wrap is made of, and how to choose the right type (Food Plastic Wrap)?
Let’s dig deeper into the origins of plastic wrap Material
First and foremost, we need to know that there are 3 main materials used to make plastic wrap: polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, and polypropylene.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC):
This is the most common material used to make plastic wrap. PVC cling film has excellent transparency and unparalleled adhesion. However, Greenpeace notes that it is not recommended to use it in microwave ovens due to the potential for chemicals to migrate into food.

Polyethylene (PE):
The plastic wrap produced from this material is thicker, stronger and more durable. It is widely used for commercial packaging and packaging of bulk foods (Cling Film). However, it does not have the same adhesion as PVC.

Polypropylene (PP) :
This type of plastic is with good heat resistance and is particularly suitable for use in microwave ovens. However, it is inferior to other materials in terms of transparency and stickiness.

Choose the right plastic wrap:
It is suggested to choose plastic wrap according to your need. If you want to heat food in the microwave ovens, polypropylene plastic wrap will be your best choice. If you need to seal food to keep it fresh, then the PE or PVC will be better.Artfullife is made of PE material and is FDA certified
